Feb 2023 update: Reception

This half term our Literacy focus has been The Gingerbread Man. The children enjoyed making gingerbread dough and cutting their shapes ready to bake. To our surprise the cheeky gingerbread people disappeared from the oven, and so the search for them began. Thankfully Mrs Sibley managed to track down some camera footage of the biscuits escaping from the oven, running through the classrooms and appearing by Mrs Sibley’s office. After making lost posters and an intensive search, they were once again spotted in the orchard where we finally trapped them! During this time, the children produced some excellent work which included sequencing, innovation and re-telling. They certainly have worked for the gingerbread party today!
Our number work has involved understanding the composition of 6, 7 and 8. We have also explored capacity, matching and time.
We have been lucky enough to investigate the orchard in the snow and sunshine. We are now having regular Fire pit Fridays and love it when we get to meet other year groups outside. We have celebrated Lunar New Year and prepared and ate some delicious food. We also had a visit from the Community Police Officers in support of our People Who Help us learning. Ms Leinster kindly arranged for 2 sets of chrome books to be given to us, which has meant that we have been able to use them in class and extend our opportunities for ICT.
We hope that everyone has a wonderful half term.
